The Company – Product Marketing Manager

An established B2B technology company is looking for a Product Marketing Manager to support the continued growth of its software portfolio. The business provides specialist technology that helps organisations manage demanding processes and make better-informed decisions. Its products are well established, technically impressive and continually evolving: they are also more complicated than something you can explain with a cheerful stock photograph and three vague bullet points.

Marketing works closely with Product, Sales and technical colleagues to make sure customers understand what the technology does and more importantly, why they should care. The company is now investing further in product marketing to sharpen its proposition, strengthen its launches and give its commercial teams an easier story to tell.

The Role – Product Marketing Manager

You will develop a thorough understanding of the company’s products, the market, customers and competitors and use that knowledge to support commercial growth. That means getting close enough to the technology to understand it properly, then resisting the temptation to repeat every feature you have just learned. Instead, you will identify what matters to each audience and turn it into clear positioning, useful content and convincing reasons to buy. You will shape how the portfolio is presented to the market, support new product and feature launches and give sales and marketing teams the materials they need to communicate confidently. You will also review existing propositions and identify where the message has become unclear, outdated or simply buried beneath too many technical terms.

Key Responsibilities – Product Marketing Manager

  • Plan and coordinate the introduction of new products, services and enhancements
  • Develop propositions that connect technical capabilities with genuine customer priorities
  • Create sales tools, presentations, customer stories and commercially focused product materials
  • Research target markets, customer groups and competitors to identify opportunities
  • Work with customers and internal teams to uncover useful insights, evidence and proof points
  • Support campaigns with the product knowledge and audience insight needed to make them relevant
  • Help sales colleagues understand the portfolio without handing them a 94-page technical manual
  • Review the customer journey and identify opportunities to improve engagement and adoption
  • Work with product managers and technical teams to maintain a clear understanding of the roadmap
  • Produce content for digital channels, events, webinars and product communications
  • Adapt messaging for different sectors, roles and stages of the buying process
  • Measure the effectiveness of launches, content and wider product marketing activity
  • Keep product information accurate, consistent and understandable by people outside the development team

About You – Product Marketing Manager

You will be an experienced B2B product marketer with a background in software, technology or another environment where the product requires slightly more explanation than “available in blue.”

You should have practical experience of bringing products or features to market, developing propositions and creating materials that support both marketing activity and sales conversations. You will be equally comfortable contributing to the strategy and getting on with the work required to deliver it.The role needs somebody who can build strong relationships with technical specialists while keeping the customer and commercial objective firmly in view. You will be able to absorb detailed information, identify what is genuinely important and explain it without requiring the audience to consult a glossary halfway through.

Experience within enterprise software, SaaS, information technology or another specialist B2B market would be valuable. Strong writing, research and stakeholder management skills are essential alongside the judgement to know when a message needs more explanation and when it needs considerably fewer acronyms.

The role is hybrid with 2/3 days a week in their Hertfordshire office. Therefore it’s easily commutable from Cambridgeshire, Essex, parts of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and of course London.
